How Mr Gallagher works

Gynaecological problems can be personal and hard to talk about. These principles shape every appointment.

  1. Time to listen

Your consultation is not rushed. You can describe your symptoms in your own words and say how they affect your daily life.

  2. Every option explained

He explains what tests show and sets out each option plainly, including what to expect, the likely benefits and the risks.

  3. Decisions made together

Your priorities count. The plan you leave with is one you have agreed to, not one decided for you.

  4. Gentler surgery where possible

When surgery is needed, he uses keyhole or vaginal approaches wherever appropriate, which usually means a quicker recovery.

Clinical interests

Mr Gallagher's surgical practice centres on laparoscopic (keyhole) and vaginal surgery. He performs laparoscopic hysterectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy, removing the womb, fallopian tubes or ovaries through small incisions rather than a large abdominal cut.

For women living with pelvic pain, he has a particular interest in endometriosis. This includes laparoscopic excision of endometriosis and the treatment of more complex rectovaginal disease, where careful surgery can relieve long-standing symptoms.

He also treats pelvic organ prolapse, using vaginal and laparoscopic repair according to what suits each patient. For urinary incontinence and bladder symptoms, he offers assessment including cystoscopy, a camera examination of the bladder, and treatments such as Bulkamid, a bulking injection for stress incontinence.

Patient stories

In their own words, patients describe their care with Mr Gallagher.

I am writing this as an NHS patient and I can’t speak highly enough of the care, kindness and consideration that I received from the moment I arrived at the hospital. Mr Gallagher was thorough, clear in explaining the treatment options available and their potential benefits and drawbacks. He gave me time to ask questions which he answered patiently and with clarity. I feel confident that if I have any concerns or worries I will be heard and I know that I can ask advice at any point.

I was amazed that the procedure was completed with zero discomfort at all! Mr Gallagher and his nurse Adriana are both excellent at their roles. Adriana kept me chatting whilst Mr Gallagher completed the procedure with zero fuss or discomfort. Many thanks to you both.
